Foxtail Foods runs a high-throughput baking line in Fairfield, Ohio. Their oven had been leaving capacity on the table: they couldn’t carry full color across the full width of the belt, and bake times were longer than they needed to be.
THG scoped a full oven rebuild and put a Field Crew team on site for six days, Todd Daugherty leading, with Graham Henry among the crew. A new belt, chevron beds, slide beds, coloraider tubes, rub rails, and double chain went in, and the tracker was rebuilt end to end. The sixth day was startup support, the crew on hand for the belt bakeoff and the first production runs.
By startup, Foxtail was running product across the entire width of the oven with full color for the first time, and had taken two minutes off the bake.
The challenge
Foxtail's oven couldn't carry full color across its full width, leaving usable belt on the table, and bake times were longer than they needed to be. The oven's internals were due for a rebuild, from belt and beds to coloraider tubes, chain, and tracker.
The work
A Field Crew team led by Todd Daugherty spent six days on site for a full oven rebuild. New belt, chevron beds, slide beds, coloraider tubes, rub rails, and double chain, plus a complete tracker rebuild (return rollers, bearings, actuator, prox and limit switches, optics, and heat shields). Day six was startup support, with the crew on hand for the belt bakeoff and first production runs.
The outcome
Foxtail ran product across the full width of the oven with full color, something they had never been able to do, and took two minutes off the bake time.
